		<description>An excellent introduction, and I agree with you wholeheartedly.  I too spend a lot of time thinking about the garbage patches (and our biosphere in general), and I&#039;m glad you were inspired by the Story of Stuff and the people who have gone a year without throwing anything away.  My Mom is huge into this stuff, and Lorenia and I have a dream of taking our house off the grid, or at least getting paid by the electric utility for pumping juice back into the system.  Further down the road I&#039;d like to have a solar and wind-powered catamaran.  But we&#039;ll see.  Huzzah, and I look forward to many more posts!
